What is Renewal energy?

Renewable energy requires natural experiences such as sunlight, wind, plant growth, and hydroelectricity. Renewable energy derives its energy from the sun and is anticipated to be efficient in providing mankind energy. Renewable energy encircles a wide range of energy automation and fuels, varying from solar panel cells to the burning of animal pat for fuel in many poor regions of the world.

The Sources of renewable energy are limited but inexhaustible, i.e. that there are certain restrictions on how much energy can be produced from any given renewable energy technology, by taking into consideration that maximum usage of a particular technology in the present does not decrease the ability to utilize it in the future.

Areas where Renewal of energy is utilized

Renewable energy is the energy that is accumulated from renewable resources, which are naturally restocked on a geological timescale, For example- sunlight, wind energy, rain, tidal power, and biothermal heat. Renewable energy provides energy in four important areas:

  • Generation of electricity,
  • Cooling/heating of water and air,
  • Transportation,
  • Off-grid solar energies of rural areas.

Sources of Renewal Energy

Renewal energies are the viable energy sources that are also termed as alternative energy. The reason behind this is the renewable energy is considered to be an alternative to conventional fossil fuels such as oil and coal. The sources of renewable energy represent the amount of energy they contribute globally in the form of–

  • Hydroelectric power,
  • The wood utilized for heating, cooking, and for generating the electricity,
  • Biomass energy produced from crops and waste,
  • Wind energy,
  • Concentrated solar power generated with mirrors and steam turbines,
  • Photovoltaic solar cells,
  • Geothermal energy, and tidal energy.

Types of Renewal Energy

Types of Renewal Energy
  • Solar Energy

Solar Energy is acquired by capturing luminous energy from sunlight and turning it into heat, electricity, or hot water. Photovoltaic (PV) systems help in converting direct sunlight into electricity through the use of solar cells. The advantage of solar energy is that sunlight is functionally continuous and endless. Relying on solar energy is more beneficial than fossil fuels as it helps in improving public health and environmental conditions. Further, solar energy also helps in eliminating energy costs and reduces energy bills.

Certain restrictions limit the use of solar energy, i.e. significant initial cost is an unrealistic expense for most of the families. Solar energy also needs to have ample sunlight and space to arrange their solar plants, which limits the individual to adopt this technology at the individual level.

  • Wind Energy

Wind Energy has been used for decades to push the breeze, power windmills and to increase the pressure for water pumps. Since the late 19th century, controlling the wind to generate electricity has been the subject of research. Wind Energy is considered very reliable and steady as compared to other types of renewable energy as wind is uniform and does not decrease during peak hours of demand. Initially, the development of wind farms was a costly move. With the recent improvements globally, wind energy has begun to set high prices in wholesale energy markets on a worldwide basis.

  • Hydroelectric Energy

Hydroelectric energy is an energy which is very versatile and can be produced used for both large scale projects, and small-scale projects Hydroelectric Energy does not create pollution and is much more environment-friendly energy option. Dams are what people linked the most when it comes to hydroelectric energy. Hydroelectric energy uses the resistless tendency potential of overhead water that was lifted from the oceans by sunlight. Presently, most of the available locations for hydroelectric dams are already used in the developed world.

  • Geothermal Energy

Geothermal energy is not as similar to other types of renewable energy sources, but it has a remarkable potential for energy supply. Since it can be built underground, it leaves very little footprint on the land. Geothermal energy is naturally recharged and therefore does not run a risk of diminishing. Energy left over from the original growth of the planet and expanded by heat from radioactive breakdown drip out slowly everywhere and every day. Geothermal energy is high enough to utilize the generate electricity.

  • Ocean Energy

Ocean energy is the energy that can produce two types of energy: thermal and mechanical. Ocean thermal energy depends on warm water surface temperatures to produce energy in a diversified manner. Ocean energy uses the fallback and movement of the tides to generate energy, which is produced by the earth’s rotation and gravity from the moon.

  • Hydrogen Energy

Hydrogen Energy is the energy that needs to be merged with other elements, like oxygen to make water as Hydrogen energy cannot occur naturally as a gas on its own. Hydrogen Energy is produced when hydrogen is separated from another element which can be used for both fuel and electricity. Hydrogen Energy can be used as a burning fuel, which results in less pollution.

  • Biomass

Biomass energy is an organic matter that occurs from recently living plants and creatures. There are various methods used to generate energy through the use of biomass, one of them is the use of wood in your fireplace.

Advantages of Renewal Energy

Renewal Energy has several advantages as compared to the use of fossil fuels. Below mentioned key points are the advantages of Renewal Energy-

  • Renewable energy will not dry out, as these technologies use the resources directly from the environment to produce power.
  • Renewal Energy requires less maintenance as compared to the use of fossil fuels.
  • Renewable energy lowers the operating costs, as the person is not required to pay for refuelling.
  • Renewable energy has a positive impact on the health of the public as well as on nature.
  • Less reliance on international energy resources.

Use of Renewal Energy in Home

Renewal energy can be used and supplied into our home in two ways:

  • Switching to a retailer’s renewal energy that offers green energy plans or
  • Installing solar panels.

There are many renewal energy retailers that offer green energy plans that allow the individual to purchase some or all of the electricity needs from renewable sources. On the other hand, installing solar plans will allow the individual or family members to generate their electricity using sunlight. Although it is still required to stay connected with a renewal energy retailer. If your solar panels regularly generate enough electricity for your home, you could save a lot of electricity bills.

REC stands for Renewable energy credits. It is a certificate that directs at chasing the progress and agreements with the Renewable Portfolio Standards of different states. RECs should communicate with the environmental aspects of energy generated from renewable energy sources. In a layman, a REC is a proof that the energy is being produced from renewable energy sources. A REC is issued in the following casewhen one megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity is produced and sent to the electricity grid from a renewable energy source.

A Biogas plant is a unit that converts organic waste matter into useful gaseous fuel and organic fertilizer as an end product in the form of slime. Cattle dung is the most common feed material in family size biogas plants.
