How to Get GST Registration in India?

A. Documents Required for GST Registration of Individual

The following are the list of required documents for GST Registration of an Individual-

  • PAN Card of the business and Applicant

For GST Registration, the applicant requires the PAN (Permanent Account Number) of the business and authorized signatories of the applicant or individual.

  • Valid Indian Phone number and Email address

A valid phone number and email- address of the primarily authorized signatory are required to be filled at the time of GST Registration.

  • Proof of place of business

Principal place of business is the primary location within the state where a taxpayer’s business is performed where the business’s books of the accounts and records are kept.

  • Copy of valid rent or lease agreement or consent letter
  • Valid bank account number from India

Under this, you need to mention all the details of the bank account maintained for commencing business. You can fill the details up to 10 bank accounts. You will also ask to enter the details of the Indian Financial system code (IFSC) number of the same branch and bank.

  • Copy of Electricity bill or Municipal khata copy of any document supporting the ownership of the premises
  • For every additional place of business, the copy of proof of such additional place of business.

Other Required Documents are-

  • List of Goods and Service to be supplied
  • Proof of appointment of Authorized Signatory (Letter of Authorization or copy of board resolution)
  • Authorized Signatories photo (soft copy)
  • For Companies and LLP’s, it is important to have a digital signature (class 2 digital signature) of the person who is authorized to sign the GST application
  • Incorporation certificate (in case of Company)
  • Other regulatory registration details such as Professional Tax, State Excise License details (If in case it is applicable)

B. Documents required for GST Registration for Private Limited Company

The following are the documents required for GST Registration for private limited Company-

  • PAN Card of the applicant or Director or promoters
  • Bank account statement
  • Copy of the resolution passed by Boards of Directors or Managing Committee and Acceptance letter
  • Letter of Authorization
  •  Id proof of the applicant or Director or promoters (Aadhar Card, Passport, Voter ID)
  • Address Proof of the applicant or Director or promoters (Bank Statement, Electricity Bill, Mobile Bill)
  • Photograph of the applicant or Director or promoters
  • Copy of the Memorandum of association or article of association
  • Incorporation certificate (in case of Company)

C. Documents required for GST Registration for a public company

  • PAN Card of the applicant or Director or promoters or shareholders

  • Letter of Authorization
  • The updated director lists to be submitted
