Why Trademark class is important?

The Trademark classification serves two major functions –

  • First, it provides a roadmap to the new businesses or existing business owner who intends to register their trademark for registering their goods or services.
  • Second, it helps in recognizing potential trademark from infringement.
  • It provides transparency and uniformity at a worldwide level
  • Traceability and easy finding through trademark finder
  • Easy accessibility to the running application which is pending for approval.

The Trademark registry cannot register a trademark which creates confusion or appears as similar to any lasting trademark. For exit is possible for Dove® Soap and Dove® chocolate to get the trademark since they are unrelated. So to make it clear for trademark registry or the trademark applicant the trademark class has been introduced.
