The CBIC has issued Notification No. 09/2023-Customs (ADD) on 11th September 2023. The notification relates to the imposition of Anti-Dumping Duty (ADD) on import of Flat Base Steel Wheels originating in and exported from China PR for a duration of 5 years. As per this notification, the designated authority initiated a review under sub-section (5) of section 9A of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, in conjunction rule 23 of the Customs Tariff (Identification, Assessment and Collection of Anti-Dumping Duty on Dumped Articles and for Determination of Injury) Rules, 1995. The review aimed to assess the continuation of the anti-dumping duty on imports of Flat Base Steel Wheels under sub-heading 8708 70 of the Customs Tariff Act, originating from China PR.

The CBDT has implemented these recommendations by exercising its power under section 9A of the Customs Tariff Act 1975 read with relevant rules. Anti-dumping duty has been imposed on “Flat Base Steel Wheels” for a period of 5 years. This decision to impose a five-year duty on imports of “Flat Base Steel Wheels” has been implemented to protect Indian Industries. Importers and Stakeholders should make a note of this as this development will have implications on trade involving these specific steel wheels.
