GST officials to not use force and coercion during recovery searches

coercion during recovery searches

In view to curb the menace of excessive force and coercion of the tax officials during a search, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has directed concerned stakeholders to make sure that recovery tax dues are made by following the due legal process after issuance of adjudication order and not during the raid.

The step has been taken after numerous complaints have been made regarding the use of excessive force and coercion by the officials whilst making a recovery in case of inspections and searches.
