It involves the systematic recording, analysis, and reporting of financial(...)&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/enterslice.com\/learning\/terms\/accounting\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>Accounting<\/a> Standards (AS) as well as Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS)&rdquo;. In this article, we are going to discuss the <strong>Ind AS format for NBFCs.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note*<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p><div class=\"shadow4\">Indian Accounting Standard (Ind-AS) is the Accounting standard adopted by Indian which is issued under the supervision of <strong>Accounting Standards Board (ASB). <\/strong>ASB is a committee under&nbsp;<strong>Institute of Chartered Accountants of India&nbsp;(ICAI)<\/strong> which consists representatives of the government department, academicians, other professional bodies such as ICAI, representatives from ASSOCHAM, CII, FICCI, etc. <\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Schedule III of the Companies Act 2013 is divided into parts, which are as follows: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Division I <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It applies to a company whose\nfinancial statements are finalized based on accounting standards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Division 2 <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It applies to a company whose\nfinancial statements are finalized based on Indian accounting standards (Ind\nAs) other than Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>30<sup>th<\/sup> March 2016<\/strong>, MCA issued <strong>Companies (Indian Accounting Standards) (<a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Amendment&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;An &amp;quot;amendment&amp;quot; refers to the formal change or correction of a legal document, often involving additions, variations, or deletions to address irregularities or clarify points in an agreement.(...)&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/enterslice.com\/learning\/terms\/amendment\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>Amendment<\/a>) Rules, 2016<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/www.icai.org\/post.html?post_id=12125\"><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/a><\/sup>, <\/strong>which defined a <strong>roadmap for NBFCs regarding the implementation of Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS)<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After this, on <strong>11<sup>th<\/sup> October 2018, <\/strong>MCA notified <strong>Ind AS Schedule III applicable to NBFCs. <\/strong>With this, new <strong>division III <\/strong>has been incorporated under Schedule III which will apply to NBFCs covered under Ind AS applicability.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/enterslice.com\/learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/image-2.png\" alt=\"Ind AS Format for NBFCs\" class=\"wp-image-26608\" width=\"449\" height=\"345\" srcset=\"https:\/\/enterslice.com\/learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/image-2.png 589w, https:\/\/enterslice.com\/learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/image-2-300x231.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 449px) 100vw, 449px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Schedule III for NBFCs<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>As it is clear from the above, division III of Schedule III applies to NBFCs, on which Ind AS applies while finalising financial statements. In addition to disclosure requirements, this provision also applies when a company is required to prepare consolidated financial statements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<table class=\"table table-bordered\"><tbody><tr><td>\n  <strong>Balance Sheet<\/strong>\n  <\/td><td>\n  <strong>Profit and Loss\n  Statement <\/strong>\n  &nbsp;\n  <\/td><td>\n  <strong>Statement of\n  changes in equity <\/strong>\n  &nbsp;\n  <\/td><td>\n  <strong>Materiality <\/strong>\n  &nbsp;\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>   The division III of Schedule III   provides a balance sheet format and defines minimum disclosure requirements for NBFCs. Along with this, specific disclosure of derivative financial instruments and subordinated liabilities. In the Balance sheet, items are divided into two parts, i.e. financial &amp; non-financial.    Under this, <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;NBFC&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFC) operate similarly to banks but do not possess the legal status of a bank. Registered under the Companies Act 2013 and governed by the RBI Act&amp;#039;s section(...)&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/enterslice.com\/learning\/terms\/nbfc\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>NBFC<\/a> can also avail the option of presenting assets &amp; liabilities in the liquidity order.    The main objective behind this is to present users of financial statements the primary goal of NBFCs, policies as well as the process of managing capital.    &nbsp;   <\/td><td>   The division III of Schedule III   provides a P\/L statement format and defines minimum disclosure requirements for NBFCs. It must disclose items such as <strong>&ldquo;revenue from operations&rdquo;<\/strong> and <strong>&ldquo;other comprehensive income&rdquo;<\/strong> on the face of the P\/L statement.    &nbsp;   <\/td><td>   This statement will reconcile opening to the closing amount in respect of each component of equity including reserves &amp; surplus along with the items of other comprehensive income. In this statement, NBFCs have to disclose statutory reserves as a part of &ldquo;other equity&rdquo;.    For the conditions or restrictions for distribution attached to statutory reserves, separate disclosure is required to be given.    &nbsp;   <\/td><td>   It is essential for NBFCs to show all   &ldquo;material&rdquo; items in financial statements, i.e., the items if they could,   individually or collectively, influence the economic decisions that users make based on the financial statements. Materiality depends on the size or nature of the item or a combination of both, to be judged in the particular circumstances.   &nbsp;   <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>\n\n\n\n<p>NBFCs shall comply with disclosure requirements which are mentioned under schedule III along with the disclosure requirements prescribed under Ind AS. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/enterslice.com\/nbfc-registration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NBFCs<\/a><\/strong> will make additional disclosures in notes specified in Ind AS unless required to be disclosed on the face of financial statements. Similarly, in addition to the disclosure requirements mentioned under Schedule III, disclosure requirements as specified under the Companies Act 2013 shall be made in notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-left\"><b>Read our article<\/b>:<mark style=\"background: #fffd03 !important;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterslice.com\/learning\/ind-as-guidelines-for-preparation-of-financial-statement-for-nbfc\/\">IND Accounting Standard Guidelines for NBFC for the Preparation of Financial Statement<\/a><\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Division III requirements for NBFCs <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;The Division III requirements are similar to the provisions of Division II except few, which are as follows: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Now, NBFCs can present items of the balance sheet in the order of liquidity;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The balance sheet is required to be classified into financial &amp; non-financial; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NBFCs have to separately disclose in the &ldquo;note&rdquo; item of other income or other expenditure exceeding 1% of the total income. However, in the case of division II, disclosure was required to be given in case of an item of income or expenditure exceeding 1% of the revenue from operations of Rs. 10 Lakhs, whichever is higher. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NBFCs have to disclose debts due from LLP under which its director is a partner or member under the head receivables. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NBFCs have to disclose items comprising &ldquo;revenue from operations&rdquo; and &ldquo;other comprehensive income&rdquo; on the P\/L statement. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Significant Change for Ind AS Format for NBFCs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The most significant change is concerned with the classification of <strong>&ldquo;trade receivables&rdquo;<\/strong> &amp; <strong>&ldquo;loan receivables&rdquo;<\/strong>.
