With the introduction of DigiLocker now you don&rsquo;t always have to take your original documents everywhere you go. For example, if you don&rsquo;t carry your Driver&rsquo;s license with you and the traffic police stops you and demands for your consent. You can show them your Driver&rsquo;s license in your <strong>DigiLocker<\/strong> web\/app account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">So, what\nis DigiLocker?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>DigiLocker developed and provided by the <a href=\"https:\/\/meity.gov.in\/\">Ministry of Electronics and IT {MeitY}<\/a>, The\nGovernment of India under the Digital India campaign. DigiLocker provides every\ncitizen of India with 1 GB of free cloud space i.e., a platform over the\ninternet. The Prime Minister of India launched it on 1 July 2019. Initially, the\nservice provided 100 MB of cloud space, which was then increased to 1 GB. The\nsize of an individual document must not be more than 10 MB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>20.13 lakh users with 24.13 lakh documents were recorded in\nJuly 2016. This number increased from April that year by 7.53 lakh as the\ngovernment ordered all municipal bodies to use DigiLocker to minimize paper\nconsumption. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the year 2017, the government extended the facilities for\nICSE Board students to store their mark sheets and use them wherever required. In\nFebruary 2017, Kotak Mahindra Bank started allowing the use of an e-signed\ndocument in DigiLocker within its net banking application. In May 2017 above\n108 hospitals planned to use this application to store the medical records of\ntheir cancer patients. According to UIDAI architects, the patients would be\nprovided with a Number Key that they can share with other hospitals to see their\ntest reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now in 2019, over two crores registered users are recorded with\nover 350 crore digital documents and 115 issuers. Moreover, 35 requester\norganizations accept documents from DigiLocker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterslice.com\/nbfc-software\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"730\" height=\"90\" src=\"https:\/\/enterslice.com\/learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1.jpg\" alt=\"NBFC Software\" class=\"wp-image-22702\" srcset=\"https:\/\/enterslice.com\/learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1.jpg 730w, https:\/\/enterslice.com\/learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1-300x37.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 730px) 100vw, 730px\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stakeholders\nof DigiLocker<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>There are three Stakeholders of the DigiLocker platform namely;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Citizen<\/li><li>Issuers<\/li><li>Requester<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Citizen: <\/strong>They are\nthe general public, like you and me who can store either their issued or\nuploaded the document in DigiLocker. There are two methods to store your\ndocuments, namely; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Uploaded document:<\/strong> These are\ndocuments that the user uploads by scanning them. These include Driver&rsquo;s\nlicense, voter&rsquo;s ID, PAN Card, passport, mark sheets, income tax statements,\netc. <\/li><li><strong>Issued<\/strong> <strong>document: <\/strong>A registered issuer issues these e-documents by pushing\nthe Uniform Resource Indicator {URI} of the e-documents to the DigiLocker of\nthe citizen-based upon their Aadhar number. The issuer agency needs to register\nthemselves on DigiLocker<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Issuer:<\/strong> They are\npeople\/authorities who make\/generate documents for the general public. Like <a href=\"https:\/\/enterslice.com\/learning\/parliament-passes-aadhaar-amendment-bill\/\">UIDAI<\/a> issues\nthe Aadhar card, these authorities play the role of the issuer in DigiLocker,\nPassport Seva Kendra, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Requester:<\/strong> They are\npeople\/authorities who request us to display our documents. For example, the\ntraffic police demands for Driver&rsquo;s license, we need to use our Aadhar number\nto purchase SIM Cards, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Structure of DigiLocker<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Each DigiLocker or digital locker consists of the following sections\/parts;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My\ncertificate:<\/strong> This part has two sub-sections<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Digital documents:<\/strong> It\nincludes the URIs of the documents issued by the government authority\/ other\nagencies to the citizen<\/li><li><strong>Uploaded documents:<\/strong> This\nsubsection consists of a list of documents uploaded by the citizen. Only pdf,\njpg, jpeg, png, and gif files can be uploaded, and they should not exceed 10 MB\nin size.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My\nprofile:<\/strong> this section shows the details of the users as listed in the UIDAI\ndatabase<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My issuer:<\/strong> This\nsection shows the details related to the issuer, such as the issuer&rsquo;s name and\nthe number of documents issued by them to the user <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My\nrequester:<\/strong> this section displays details of the requester like\nrequester&rsquo;s name, and number of documents requested<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Directories:<\/strong> A list of\nregistered issuers and requesters along with their URLs are mentioned in this\nsection<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterslice.com\/nidhi-company-software\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"730\" height=\"90\" src=\"https:\/\/enterslice.com\/learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/2.jpg\" alt=\"Nidhi software\" class=\"wp-image-22703\" srcset=\"https:\/\/enterslice.com\/learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/2.jpg 730w, https:\/\/enterslice.com\/learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/2-300x37.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 730px) 100vw, 730px\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;Security Measures used in DigiLocker<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The following are the security measures used in this system;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Mobile\nauthentication based sign up<\/li><li>Data\nredundancy<\/li><li>Timed\nlogout<\/li><li>Security\naudit<\/li><li>256 bit\nSSL Encryption<\/li><li>ISO 27001\ncertified by Data Centre<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Advantages\nof DigiLocker<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>These are the few advantages of using DigiLocker;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Digitally\nempowers the citizen<\/li><li>You can\neasily access your documents online<\/li><li>Reduces\nthe use of fake documents<\/li><li>Reduces\nthe use of physical documents <\/li><li>The\ne-documents are valid to use everywhere<\/li><li>You can\neasily share documents with departments and agencies<\/li><li>It also\nensures complete privacy of the user&rsquo;s documents<\/li><li>You can\nalso sign in using your Facebook or Gmail ID<\/li><li>Reduce the\nhassle of paperwork and empowers paperless documentation<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>DigiLocker is a cloud-based platform provided to people to\nstore their official documents. Also, it is used by the Issuer and Requestors\nfor their own purposes. 1 GB of free cloud space is provided to the registered\nperson. A single document must not exceed 10 MB in size and should only be\nuploaded in the specified format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It uses various security measures to ensure the user&rsquo;s data is\nsafe.
